Lectotype (designated here by Oliver ): [icon] " Erica, Africana, Abietis folio longiore & tenuiore, floroibus oblongis, saturate rubris " in Seba, Locupl. Rer. Nat. Thes. 1: 31, t. 21, f. 1. 1734 (see p. 158).

Current name: Erica abietina L. View in CoL ( Ericaceae ).

Note: Salter (in J. S. African Bot. 8: 280. 1942) interpreted this name via the cited Seba plate (illustrated as f. 1), but fell short of calling it the type.
