Remarks: In the absence of a more recently published systematic framework, the subfamily designation of the new genus into the Araneinae follows the phylogenetic hypothesis developed by Scharff & Coddington (1997); however, we recognize that unpublished molecular data question the monophyly of this subfamily (see Introduction).
