Genus Metenoploides Wieser, 1953 View in CoL

As suggested by the genus name, Metenoploides is a further development of Enoploides . This genus was described by Wieser (1953) including the description of Metenoploides alatus Wieser, 1953 and Metenoploides capitulus Wieser, 1953 . Their main features are the large length of the mandibles which exceeds at least 10 times the corresponding width at the middle of the shaft. Furthermore, the lips are very high and deeply cut and the longest cephalic setae measure two or more head diameters. Although the cephalic structure seems to be unique within the family, we consider it as a genus inquirenda because both species descriptions are based on females and juveniles, which follows the same criteria for invalidation of other genera, and type-material could be not traced to allow us to check the material.
