Type Locality: Sudan, Bahr el Abiad.
Vernacular Names: Savanna Shrew.

Distribution: Sudan savanna from Kenya to Mali.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Gureev (1979) listed beta as a distinct species without comment. For synonyms see Hutterer (1984), Hutterer and Kock (1983) and Hutterer and Happold (1983).
