Specimens examined. Lectotypes: Callimome annulus : 1 ♀, collected by F. Walker from Amurland, B. M. TYPE HYM. 5. 32 ( BMNH); Callimome pallidicornis : 1 ♀, B. M. TYPE HYM. 5. 1610 ( BMNH) . Other specimens: 4 ♀, collected by C. R. Vardy on 28 May 1961 from Romsey , SH, England, B. M. 1961–422 ( BMNH) ; 1 ♀, emerged on 16 March 1957 from a seed of Betula platyphylla var. japonica View in CoL collected by K. Kamijo from Sapporo , Hokkaido, Japan ( HUM) ; 1 ♀, emerged on 2 April 1957 from a seed of Betula platyphylla var. japonica View in CoL collected by K. Kamijo from Sapporo , Hokkaido, Japan ( HUM) ; 1 ♀, emerged on 9 April 1957 from a seed of Betula platyphylla var. japonica View in CoL collected by K. Distribution. Japan (Hokkaido); Holarctic. This is a new distributional record of T. nitidulus from Japan.
Host information. Torymus nitidulus parasitizes unknown host in seeds of Betula platyphylla Sukaczev var. japonica (Miq.) H. Hara (Betulaceae) in Japan. According to Graham and Gijswijt (1998), this species is associated with Semudobia spp. ( Diptera : Cecidomyiidae ), gall inducers of Betula (Betulaceae) in Europe.
