Diagnosis. The wing pattern of Statherotis discana ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1–7 ) is most similar to S. muangmaithongi sp. nov. It can be distinguished by the modified black scale patch on the underside of forewing ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 15–17 ) and the upperside of hindwing medially ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1–7 ) and the hindwing without a large anal rounded lobe whereas the latter species has a large anal rounded lobe in hindwing but lacks the patch of modified black scales on the underside of forewing and the upperside of hindwing medially. The hind tibia ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 18–21 ) has a tuft of yellowish white hair pencils that is smaller than in S. leucaspis . The male genitalia ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 29–33 ) are similar to S. leucaspis , but the width of the cucullus is narrower in S. discana than in S. leucaspis .
Remarks. Specimens from Thailand were collected from various habitats (evergreen forest, hill evergreen forest, dry evergreen forest, mixed deciduous forest, dry dipterocarp forest, grassland, and restoration forest) at a wide range of elevations, 33–1,264 m.
