Vernacular Names: O'Connell's Spiny-rat.
Distribution: C Colombia east of Cordillera Oriental.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Placed in the semispinosus group by Patton (1987). Karyotype has 2n=32 and FN=52 ( Gardner and Emmons, 1984).
