Diagonosis. Body length 2.3–2.4 mm (head to apical end of elytra), width 1.6–1.7 mm (elytra margin), body convex and glossy. Head, pronotum, and elytra black; mouthparts, antennae, and tarsi reddish brown; remainder of legs yellowish brown. Head with fine, sparse punctures. Maxillary palpomere 3 triangularly enlarged and flattened; relative ratio of antennomeres 3 to 11 (4:5:7:13:15:11:13:14:17), antennomeres 7–11 expanded; antennomere 5 very short, shorter than 3 and 4 combined ( Fig. 10 View Figs ). Pronotum finely, densely punctate, about 1.7 times as wide as long. Elytra distinctly, densely punctate, punctation denser than that of pronotum. Protibia, mesotibia, and metatibia straight. Remarks. This species is similar to Scaphisoma subalpinum Reitter in body size and blackish body coloration but can be distinguished by the triangular maxillary palpomere 3. Also, Scaphisoma seorsum (Löbl) is similar to this species in body size, antennomere ratio, and by possessing a triangular maxillary palpomere 3, but can be distinguished by the difference in punctation patterns of the metaventrite, with fine punctures in the middle and coarse punctures in the lateral area.
