Diagnosis. This species can be easily distinguished from other species from the Oriental Region by its elongate head, dark legs and yellowish tarsus. It is similar to S. nitida but can be separated from this species by: smooth dorsal surface of antenniferes, shallow transversal furrow of the head, distinct collus and long, thin apodeme depression of anterior pronotal lobe, ridges of proepisternum and proepimeron connected in entire length, posterior pronotal lobe distinctly sculptured, spiracles III–VI placed very close to ventral connexival suture. Other characters to distinguish this species are the distinctly different color of legs (legs of S. nitida are bicolorous), body size ( S. nitida is distinctly smaller), the shape of parameres (parameres distinctly wider in S. caiana ) as well as the structure of the aedeagus (e.g. very different shape of dorsal phallothecal sclerite).

Redescription: Color: Body generally black with yellowish markings on basal part of hemelytron and bicolorous setae ( Figs. 55 View FIGURE 55 , 173 View FIGURES 169–182 ). Antennomeres brown or basi- and distiflagellum bicolorous, basal part brown, apical part yellowish. Dorsal surface of all visible labial segments; apex of first, apex and base of second and lateral parts of third visible labial segments paler. Scutellum covered by pale setae. Basal part of corium yellowish, with black base. Part of clavus connected with anal vein and costal vein paler. Coxa and trochanters, femur and tibia dark brown. Middle trochanter, fore femur and tibia with pale apical part. Middle and hind femurs with paler basal and apical part, middle and hind tibia with pale basal part.Tibia with pale stripe on three fourths length of dorsal surface (irregularly developed on each tibia). Tarsus yellowish. Vestiture of abdomen pale. Connexives dark brown with darker external margin and pale setae. Anterior margin of second abdominal sternum pale. Parameres yellowish with dark margins

Structure: Body small to medium-sized, slender. Head with a few pairs of trichobothrial setae on postocular part. Eyes narrower than synthlipsis in dorsal view, with S-shape curvature in lateral view. Anteocular part of head 2.8 times longer than postocular part. Area from hind margin of ocelli to base of clypeus glabrous, dorsal surface of antennifers smooth. Apodeme depression and transversal furrow shallow. Scape short, club-shaped with relatively long, adherent and erect setae. Pedicel with 5 long trichobothrial seta ( Fig. 173 View FIGURES 169–182 ). First visible labial segment reaching apical part of anterior pronotal lobe, second visible labial segment anlarged basally. Anterior pronotal lobe sculptured with distinct, granulated, pilose sulci covered by relatively long setae. Collar of anterior pronotal lobe very distinct. Ridges of proepisternum and proepimeron connected in entire length. Basal part of anterior pronotal lobe with distinct, long and thin apodeme depression. Posterior pronotal lobe weakly depressed in middle of anterior margin distinctly sculptured. Entire posterior pronotal lobe covered by relatively long and dense setae, reaching significant density at lateral parts. Metapleura with two complete and very distinct ridges ( Fig. 188 View FIGURES 188–192 ). Scutellum in middle and covered by relatively long setae wrinkled, latter enlarged in basal part. Hemelytron dull with shiny base and relatively short setae. Hemelytron surpassing apex of abdomen. Costal vein shiny. Lateral parts of abdominal sternites distinctly wrinkled. Spiracles III–VI placed very close to ventral connexival suture

MAP 5. Distribution of Sirthenea caiana Chłond, 2008 .

Genitalia: Median process of pygophore medium sized ( Fig. 61 View FIGURES 56–64 ). Both parameres triangular with numerous, variably-sized setae and distinct depression on outer side ( Figs. 57–60 View FIGURES 56–64 ). Right paramere broader than left paramere, narrow in basal part and rounded in apical part, with distinct, sharp curved process on inner side ( Fig. 59 View FIGURES 56–64 ). Left paramere rounded in apical part and gradually narrow into basal part with tubercular process on inner side ( Figs. 57 View FIGURES 56–64 ). Pedicel relatively robust and delicately bent laterally in basal part ( Figs. 62–64 View FIGURES 56–64 ). Basal lobe of dorsal phallothecal sclerite enlarged on both sides, visibly larger on right side ( Figs. 62, 64 View FIGURES 56–64 ).

Measurements (in mm): Body length:16.6–20.1; maximum width of abdomen: 3.4–4.3; head length: 2.8–3.5; head width: 1.5–1.8; length of anteocular part: 1.6–2.0; length of postocular part: 0.4–0.6; length of synthlipsis: 0.7; interocellar distance: 0.4–0.5; lengths of antennal segments I:II:III:IV: 0.8–1.1: 1.7–2.5: 1.6–2.0: 2.0–2.3; length of visible labial segments I:II:III: 0.9–1.0: 2.0–2.5: 0.8–0.9; maximum length of anterior pronotal lobe: 2.4– 2.8; maximum length of posterior pronotal lobe: 1.6–2.0; maximum width of anterior pronotal lobe: 2.4–3.2; maximum width of posterior pronotal lobe: 3.2–4.0; length of scutellum: 1.4–2.0; length of hemelytron: 10.2–12.9.

Distribution: Vietnam: prov. Vinh Phu, Tam Dao (Map 5).

Comments: The only known specimens of this species are four males collected in Vietnam.
