We follow Davis(1970)in the use ofA A.j. paulus for populationsonthe Pacific sideof TODO TODO Guatemala.In Inthe La Avellana vicinity,this was the most abundant species ofbat; during July TODO and August 1977, 43.3% of the 1,082 bats banded were A. jamaicensis . We have found onlya TODO few roosts of the two large species of Artibeus , and these were under leaves ofsabal orcoconut palm. Of289 females captured duringApril to May periods,10.3% were recorded aspregnant, lactating, or carryingyoung.ForJuly-August(n = 243)and September(n=152),the percentages were 9.0% and<1.0%, respectively.On two occasions,females were netted while carrying a TODO single young, onceon 22 July 1972 1972and again on8 April 1974.
