. Holotype M (with associated larval exuviae): Saint- Elie, French Guiana ( NE); coll. G. Senevet and E. Abonnenc; 7 Feb. 1938; no. G.997e.
Culex productus was synonymized with Cx. comminutor Dyar by Rozeboom & Komp (1950: 89) and resurrected from synonymy by Foote (1954: 83). The type series (holotype and an unspecified number of paratypes), originally deposited in the LPFM, was established as non-extant by Belkin (1968: 53).
