Distribution. Largely restricted to coastal plains and lowland mesic forests below 500 m in elevation from May through August. Four specimens captured at 1040 m. Range includes Distrito Nacional, Hato Mayor, Independencia, Isla Beata, La Altagracia, La Vega, M.T. Sánchez, Pedernales, Peravia, Sánchez Ramirez, Santiago, San Cristóbal, San Pedro de Macorís provinces.
Remarks. Ommatius gwenae is readily distinguished by the male terminalia, especially the strongly produced median process of ventral lamella ( Scarbrough 1997). This wide spread species was previously recorded from May through July taken in 10 provinces from May through July. Its range now includes Independencia, Peravia, and Santiago provinces and the month of August.
