Distribution. Whole afrotropical region, in Palaearctic from S Europe and Anatolia (Naskrecki & Ünal 1995). Recorded for Kilimanjaro by Redtenbacher (1891) and Sjöstedt (1909).
Habitat. At 0 m asl, wet grassland near Msala, Rufiji Delta, Tanzania (Kevan & Knipper 1961); Hemp C. 2005. Moist savanna grasslands, swampy areas, road sides with lush vegetation, rare in Hyparrhenia grasslands on Mt Kilimanjaro.
Song. Continuous sequence of syllables, faintly audible with the unaided ear.
Altitudinal range at Mt Kilimanjaro: 900–1400 m.
