Lectotype (Howe in Bull. Torrey Bot. Club 39: 201. 1912; Krog & James in Norweg. J. Bot. 24: 33. 1977): Herb. Linn. No. 1273.121, specimen B ( LINN) .

Current name: Ramalina fraxinea (L.) Ach. ( Ramalinaceae).

Note: See discussion by Jørgensen & al. (in Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 115: 314, 376, f. 33. 1994). Howe’s original type choice was subsequently restricted to one specimen by Krog & James.
