Types: Holotype male from UNITED STATES: California [no further data] Agassiz ( MCZ). Type examined [see Evenhuis (1983a)].

Diagnosis. Separated from the congeners by the anal cell almost all hyaline ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 10–19 ), at most only the basal one-fourth infuscated (other species have the anal cell infuscated more than half or almost all).

Female genitalia ( Fig. 31 View FIGURES 29–33 ). Furca U-shaped, narrowed basally, with large rounded subapical projections directed mesally; spermathecal reservoir ellipsoid, apex smoothly rounded, sclerotized, basal portion membranous with basal bulb, membranous portion approximately the same length as sclerotized portion; apical spermathecal duct short, about one-half length of sclerotized portion of spermathecal reservoir complex, connected to membra- nous portion of spermathecal reservoir by minute sclerite; ejection apparatus long, thin, length 1.5 times longer than sclerotized portion of spermatheca, with small flared, sclerotized apical valve and narrow cylindrical non-sclerotized basal valve; basal spermathecal duct thin, subequal in length to spermathecal reservoir complex.
