Hyalojassus punctulatus View in CoL sp. nov.
( Figs 3 View FIGURE 3 G, H, 17A–E)
Male 6.3 mm long, 3.0 mm wide across hind margin. Ground color stramineous; head with venter black except along genal margin and lateral margin of lorum; vertex, pronotum, mesonotum and scutellum mottled orange brown with numerous small black spots; forewing hyaline except for pale semiopaque areas in costal field and at base of clavus and numerous small black spots corresponding to setal sockets, transcommisural brown macula present at apex of clavus; thoracic pleuron mostly dark brown to black; femora dark brown distally, hind tibia with posterior surface dark brown ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 G, H).
Structural features as in H. takensis except as follows. Anteclypeus strongly swollen basally and expanded laterad. Forewing apical cells 2–4 nearly as broad as long. Connective bowl-shaped with prominent lateral lobes, oriented vertically with long axis aligned with vertical axis of atrium of aedeagus, lateral margins subparallel dorsally ( Fig. 17 View FIGURE 17 C). Style in ventral view with large ventral preapical flange bearing mesal projection forming approximately 90º angle and more distal obtusely angulate projection ( Fig. 17 View FIGURE 17 D), in lateral view curved posterodorsad, apex acute with dorsal preapical excavation ( Fig. 17 View FIGURE 17 E). Aedeagus without preatrium, atrium in posterior view with well developed dorsolateral lobes and smaller ventrolateral lobes ( Fig. 17 View FIGURE 17 D); shaft tubular, ventral margin angulate in lateral view, distal part curved posterodorsad ( Fig. 17 View FIGURE 17 F); apex with two pairs of straight spinelike processes extended distad, mesal pair longer and crossing each other, lateral pair shorter and slightly divergent in posterior view ( Fig. 17 View FIGURE 17 D); gonopore preapical on posterior surface, with small internal denticuli ( Fig. 17 View FIGURE 17 D).
Material examined. Holotype ♂ THAILAND: Chiang Mai, Doi Chiang Dao WS Nature trail 19º24.278'N 98º55.311'E 491m, Malaise trap 7–14.x.2007, Songkran & Apichart leg. T3175 [ QSBG]; paratype 1♂, same data as holotype, except 21–28.x.2007, T3176 [ INHS].
Notes. In overall coloration, including the presence of black spots on the forewing, this species resembles species of the closely related genus Coriojassus . The morphological overlap between Hyalojassus and Coriojassus , exemplified by H. punctulatus , suggests that these two genera are very closely related and possibly synonymous. The species name, punctulatus , refers to the presence of small black punctures on the dorsum of the head and thorax.
