Caprimulgus europaeus Linnaeus, 1758 View in CoL
LITERATURE. — Borrow & Demey (2001, 2014); Sinclair & Ryan (2010).
STATUS. — Palaearctic migrant?
REMARK. — The presence of C. europaeus as widespread Palaearctic migrant is reported in all the field guides, including Borrow & Demey (2014). Recent works with geolocators indicate that the species winter mostly in southern tropical Africa, far outside the generally described wintering range ( Norevik et al. 2017). The presence of this species in Burkina Faso requires additional assessment.
