22. Impatiens scabriuscula B. Heyne ex Wallich (1824: 464) View in CoL .

Type citation:—“Specimens are preserved in Dr. Heyne’s collection.”

Type:— INDIA. Without precise locality, 23 September 1816, Herb. Heyne, Wallich cat. n. 4736 (lectotype K001039794 , p.p. [the left side plant specimen of upper half]!, designated here; isolectotype K001039794 , p.p. [the right side plant specimen of lower half]!) .

Distribution:— India, endemic (Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu).

Notes:— Wallich (1824) described Impatiens scabriuscula based on the collections of Heyne. The protologue lacks the number of collection(s), date and locality. From the type information cited in protologue, it is clear that Wallich examined more than one specimen. At present, only a single herbarium sheet collected by Heyne is now extant at K (K001039794), but this herbarium sheet is a mixed collection, the left side plant specimen of upper half and right side of lower half belongs to I. scabriuscula of Herb. Heyne, whereas the right side plant specimen of upper half and left side of lower half marked as ‘a’ belongs to I. pendula of Herb. Heyne (syntype). The left side plant specimen of upper half area of herbarium sheet K001039794, is designated here as the lectotype as it agrees well with the protologue.
