Type citation:—“ Western Ghats ; Devimona Ghat, N. Kanara, alt. 2,000 ft. ”

Type:— INDIA. Karnataka: N. Kanara, Devimone , 2,000 ft., 24 October 1905, Talbot 3732 (lectotype K000694973 !, designated here; isolectotypes BSI!, K000381736 ! and K000381737 !) .

Distribution:— India, endemic (Goa and Karnataka).

Notes:—The younger Hooker (1906) described Impatiens talbotii on the basis of specimens collected from Devimona Ghat, N. Kanara by Talbot. Four specimens from Devimona Ghat, N. Kanara collected by Talbot were traced (BSI, K000381736, K000381737 and K000694973). Of the choice of specimens, K000694973 is designated here as the lectotype as it agrees well with the protologue and also in having drawing of floral parts on the sheet by Hooker.
