Type citation:—“ Heyne! in Wall.! L. n. 4746. a.”

Type:— INDIA. Without precise locality, 22 September 1816, Herb. Heyne, Wallich cat. n. 4746 [a] (lectotype K001039809 !, designated here; isolectotype CAL!) .

Distribution:— India, endemic (Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu).

Notes:— Wight & Arnott (1834) described Impatiens tenella based on the collections of Wallich cat. n. 4746 [a]. Two specimens belonging to Herb. Heyne, Wallich cat. n. 4746 [a] are now extant (CAL and K001039809). The best preserved specimen, K001039809, is designated here as the lectotype as it agrees well with the protologue.
