Type citation:—“Travancore hills, Myhendra and Aghasteer at 4 ‒ 5000 feet elevation.”

Type:— INDIA. Travancore, Aghasteer mallay [Agasthyamalai] & Myhendra [Mahendra], 4000 ft., s.d., Beddome s.n. (lectotype MH! Accession no. 7819, designated here).

Residual syntypes: — INDIA. Travancore hills, 4500 ft., s.d., Beddome s.n. ( MH! Accession no. 7820) ; Travancore , 1872, Beddome s.n. ( MH! Accession no. 7818) ; Ind. Or., December 1871, Beddome 209 ( K000694954 !) .

Distribution:— India, endemic (Kerala and Tamil Nadu).

Notes:— Beddome (1874) described Impatiens travancorica based on the specimens collected from Travancore hills region in Mahendragiri and Agasthyamalai. Four herbarium specimens of this species collected by Beddome were traced (MH7818 ‒ 7820 and K000694954). Of these, the specimen at MH with Accession no. 7819 is designated here as the lectotype as it agrees well with the protologue and also in having drawing of floral parts on the sheet by Hooker.
