17. Impatiens mysorensis Roth (1821: 164) .

Type citation:—“In Mysore detexit oculatissimus observator HEYNE mihique sub hoc nomine dedit.”

Type:— INDIA. Karnataka: Mysore, 1801, Herb. Rottler, Heyne s.n. (lectotype K 000381741!, designated here).

Distribution:— India, endemic and rare (Karnataka).

Notes:—B. Heyne (1770–1819) collected many plant specimens from India and he distributed these specimens to different workers like Roth, Rottler, Roxburgh and Wallich. Roth (1821) described many species based on the specimens of B. Heyne in his book Novae Plantarum Species praesertim Indiae Orientalis. The type specimens related to this book were kept at B and many were destroyed during World War II ( Stafleu & Cowan 1983). Impatiens mysorensis is also described by Roth (1821) on the basis of specimens collected by B. Heyne from Mysore but he did not mention the number and date of collection. At present, only one specimen of I. mysorensis collected by B. Heyne is now extant at K (K000381741). It is unclear whether Roth examined the specimen of I. mysorensis at K or not. Although, this specimen is considered here as the original material according to Art. 9.3(c) of Melbourne Code ( McNeill et al. 2012) and hence is designated here as the lectotype as it agrees well with the protologue.
