Distribution:— India, endemic (Karnataka and Maharashtra).
Notes:—J.D. Hooker & Thomson (1859) described Impatiens lawii on the basis of specimens collected from Canara and Malabar by Law. Ten specimens from Malabar and Concan collected by Law were traced (E00301375, K000683321, M0211759, MH7481, MPU019002, NY00406480, P04543364-04543366 and P05029181). Of these, the best one, K000683321 is designated here as the lectotype as it agrees well with the protologue and also in having drawing of flower parts on the sheet by J.D. Hooker.
