Type citation:—“Hab. Pulney hills, at an elevation of above 5,500 feet, in moist woods.”
Type:— INDIA. Tamil Nadu: Pulney Mountains, September 1836, Wight 341 (lectotype K000694963 !, designated here; isolectotypes K000694964 ! and P04614865 !) .
Distribution:— India, endemic (Kerala and Tamil Nadu).
Notes:— Impatiens campanulata was formally described by Wight (1837) based on plants collected from Pulney Mountains. At present, only three herbarium sheet of I. campanulata collected by Wight from Pulney Mountains have been traced, two at K (K000694963 and K000694964) and one at P (P04614865). The one best preserved, K000694963, is designated here as the lectotype as it agrees well with the protologue.
