Distribution. Western Atlantic – Bermuda, Florida, Gulf of Mexico, Antilles, Guyanas, and Brazil (from Pará to São Paulo) ( Melo 1996).

Ecological notes. On sand, rock, coral, and algae bottoms. From shallow waters to 75 m ( Melo 1996).

Previous records in Bahia. Rathbun (1930), Barreto et al. (1993), Almeida et al. (2007).
