DISTRIBUTION: Mountains between Tucumân and La Rioja (W Argentina), north to Salta.

SYNONYMS: viperinus.

COMMENTS: Cabrera (1961:550) believed viperinus synonymous with knighti . The chromosome no. is 2n=36.
