TYPE LOCALITY: Bolivia, La Paz Dept., near La Paz .
DISTRIBUTION: Andes of N Chile, SW Bolivia, and NW Argentina; occurs between 2,000 and 5,000 m in xeric habitats.
STATUS: Common.
SYNONYMS: simonsi .
COMMENTS: The chromosome no. is 2n=38.
