Type locality. Described from Madeira, and Adriatic Sea (ex Nardo and Brusina).

Remarks. This binomen is sometimes ascribed to Nardo (1847) (e.g. MolluscaBase (2018): Gofas, 2014) where, anyway, it was not mentioned. It is to be ascribed to Monterosato (1890, ex Nardo ms.). Recorded by MolluscaBase (2018) as a synonym of Calyptraea chinensis (Linnaeus, 1758) .
