Lectotype (Howard, Fl. Lesser Antilles 3: 382. 1979): [icon] " Arum minus nympheae foliis esculentum" [leaf only] in Sloane, Voy. Jamaica 1: 167, t. 106, f. 1. 1707. - Typotype: Herb. Sloane 3: 39 ( BM-SL) .

Current name: Colocasia esculenta (L.) Schott View in CoL View at ENA ( Araceae ).

Note: Bogner (in Leroy, Fl. Madagascar 31: 32. 1975) indicated 1079.5 (LINN) as type but this collection was received by Linnaeus long after 1753 and is not original material for the name.
