Type Locality: Pakistan, Punjab, Salt Range, near Pind Dadan Khan.
Vernacular Names: Ashy Leaf-nosed Bat.
Subspecies: :
Subspecies Hipposideros cineraceus subsp. cineraceus Blyth 1853
Subspecies Hipposideros cineraceus subsp. wrighti Taylor 1934
Distribution: Pakistan and India to Burma, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Sumatra and Borneo; adjacent small islands including Kangean Isls ( Indonesia); probably the Philippines.
Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: bicolor species group. Does not includes durgadasi ; see Topál (1975), Khajuria (1982), Corbet and Hill (1992), and Pavlinov et al. (1995 b). Includes wrighti, see Hill and Francis (1984). Reviewed in part by Bates and Harrison (1997); also see Bonaccorso (1998).
