Diagnosis: Atherimorpha species are characterized mainly by a twosegmented maxillary palpus, holoptic eyes in females and dichoptic eyes in males; eyes facets homogeneous; antenna with scape and pedicel subglobose in form, first flagellomere conical or onionshaped, and long arista; tibial spurs 0:2:2 well developed; vein R 2+3 ending in C far beyond R 1 ( Nagatomi 1982b).
