Leucosia haematosticta Adams, 1847 View in CoL (31 December), not Adams & White, 1849 (April): now Urnalana haematosticta ( Decapoda : Brachyura : Leucosiidae )
Adams (1847c: 317) wrote: “One of the most beautiful of the species is the Leucosia haematosticta (Adams and White) , which is of a dead white colour, covered with numerous round crimson spots”. This brief description makes the name Leucosia haematosticta available in Adams (1847c).
The brief description of this species in Adams (1847c: 317) agrees with that of this species by Adams & White (1849: 54, pl. 12, fig. 2), which is usually cited as the first description of Leucosia haematosticta (e.g., Clark & Presswell 2001: 156; Galil 2005: 21; Ng et al. 2008: 95). Leucosia haematosticta is now the type species of Urnalana Galil, 2005 , and it should be cited as Urnalana haematosticta (Adams, 1847) .
