Type species. Morochares fascipennis Banks, 1934 , by monotypy and original designation.
Diagnosis. Female. Scape 1.1–2.0 times as long as F1. Protarsi shortened, protarsomere 1 longer than protarsomere 2–4 combined. Tarsomere 5 without spines ventrally. Claws bifid, inner tooth broad and truncate apically ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 15–26 ). Male. Flagellomeres serrate ventrally. Pronotum with narrow transverse band along posterior margin. Propodeum with silver pubescence. Meso- and metaclaws bifid, inner tooth broad and truncate apically. Spurs ivory.
Species (subspecies) included. Six species (including new ones described below) and three subspecies: Morochares fascipennis Banks, 1934 , ♀ (Philippines: Luzon and Samar); M. nigripennis nigripennis Tsuneki, 1989 , ♀ (China: Taiwan); M. nigripennis okinawana Tsuneki, 1990 , ♀ (Japan: Ryukyus); M. nigripennis yayeyamana Tsuneki, 1990 , ♀ ♂ (Japan: Ryukyus); M. sinica Loktionov & Lelej , sp. nov., ♀ (China: Guangdong and Hainan); M. wahisi Loktionov & Lelej , sp. nov. (China: Hainan), ♀; M. wolfi Loktionov & Lelej , sp. nov., ♀ (China: Guangdong); and M. xuzaifui Loktionov, Lelej & Liu , sp. nov., ♀ (China: Zhejiang and Guangdong).
Distribution. China: Taiwan ( Tsuneki 1989), Zhejiang, Guangdong and Hainan (new records); Japan: Ryukyus ( Tsuneki 1990, Shimizu & Terayama 2016); Philippines: Luzon and Samar ( Banks 1934).
Remarks. The diagnosis of the male is based on Yamane et al. (1999) and Shimizu and Terayama (2016). The status of the subspecies of Morochares nigripennis Tsuneki needs to be clarified.
