Pterygosoma ovata sp. nov.
( Figs. 7–9 View FIGURE 7 View FIGURE 8 View FIGURE 9 and 16 View FIGURE 16 C)
Description. FEMALE (holotype). Gnathosoma . Cheliceral base 75 long, cheliceral shaft 90 long. Fixed cheliceral digit reduced. Palpal femur with serrated seta dF, 50 long, palpal genu with seta dG, 55 long, serrated only at distal part. Subcapitular setae n 90 long. Each branch of peritremes with 29–31 chambers. Hypostome 170 long. Idiosoma. Idiosoma 620 long and 1090 wide (650 x 1080 in 1 paratype). Dorsum ( Figs. 7 View FIGURE 7 A–D). Anterior-mid cluster with 91 setae, 25 long ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 B). Lateral to this cluster, about 150 setae present, 45 long, on each side present.
Among these setae 2–3 longer setae (85 long) present on each lateral margin of dorsum. Plumose setae, 17–21 pairs, located anterior to each side of pseudoanal area. Postero-lateral part of idiosoma with setae slightly expanded on tip. Peripheral series represented by 12–13 pairs, discernibly serrated distally ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 D). Venter ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 A–B) with 10–13 pairs of finely serrated setae vm, 35–155 long, located anterior to genital area. Peripheral part of idiosoma with 24–27 pairs of postero-lateral slightly plumose setae and 15 pairs of peripheral weakly serrated setae. Most part of genital slit situated ventrally. Genital series represented by slightly serrated setae g1 and 5 pairs of pseudoanal setae ps, setae ps1 situated dorsally, ps2–5 situated ventrally. Legs. Coxal setation: 3-1-4-0. Setae 1b, 1c, 2b, 3b, 3c and 3d located on coxae I–IV, 1a and 3a situated on intercoxal area ( Fig. 8 View FIGURE 8 A). Coxal setae 3a slightly serrated. Leg setation: genua I–IV (5-4-3-3), femora I–IV (5-5-3-3). Ventral setae of legs I almost filiform, with barely discernible serration.
Type material. Female holotype and 1 female paratype from Liolaemus pictus ; CHILE: Arauco Province, Isla Mocha, 38º36’32”S, 73º89’87”W, 13 December 2008, coll. D. González Acuña.
Type material deposition. Holotype in the ZISP (ZISP T-Pt-6), paratype in the AMU (AMU-PTE3.1).
Etymology. The name ovata refers to the Latin word “ovate”, it means “oval” and refers to the shape of the species body.
Differential diagnosis. P. ovata sp. nov. is similar to P. l i g a re sp. nov. In females of both species, setation of legs I–IV and number of the peritremal chambers are the same, the fixed cheliceral digit is reduced, the genital area is situated mainly ventrally and the pseudoanal series is represented by five pairs of setae ps. This new species differs from P. l i g a re as follows: in females of P. ovata , the gnatosoma is recessed into the dorsal side, the peritremal branches are without free lateral parts, setae dG are serrated only at the distal half, the cheliceral shaft is only slightly longer (1.2 times) than the base, the antero-dorsal setae are subequal in the length, the ventral setae are represented by 16 pairs of the peripheral setae and 23–28 pairs of the postero-lateral setae, setae 1a are recessed outside the first coxal plate and setae 1c are present on coxae I, four pseudoanal setae ps are inserted ventrally and one dorsally. In females of P. ligare , the gnatosoma is placed apically, the free parts of the peritremal branches are 55 long, setae dG are serrated, the cheliceral shaft is much longer (almost 1.3 times) than the base, the antero-dorsal setae elongate from the anterior to the posterior part of the setal cluster, 12 pairs of the peripheral setae and 13 pairs of the postero-lateral setae on the ventral side are present, coxae I bear setae 1a, setae 1c are absent, three pairs of setae ps are inserted ventrally and two pairs of setae ps dorsally.
