Genus 5. MYRMICARIA View in CoL   HNS .

Myrmicaria   HNS , Saund. Trams. Ent. Soc. Land. iii. 57.

This genus of Ants is founded on characters derived from males only: in all probability the genus Physatta, the characters of which are derived from females, may prove to be the other sex of Myrmicaria   HNS ; specimens of both genera have been received from India, Java, and Port Natal, but it appears desirable to keep them separate until further information is obtained; in the genus Myrmicaria   HNS , the antennae are 13-jointed, those of Physatta being 7-jointed; the labial and maxillary palpi 3-jointed.
