Distribution of Uchuca . Using the data collected in this study and the data present in literature it was possible to plot a distribution for the species of Uchuca ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 ). Analyzing it, we can observe that the genus is associated with the Amazon rainforest and U. ferreirai is the species that has the highest documented distribution, and sightings have been recorded in Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, French Guiana and Brazil. In Brazil, the only record was made in the type locality, the city of Humaitá, in the south of Amazonas State. Now, the records of this species are extended to north and northeast of Amazonas State and also into Pará State. In this work U. amacayaca is recorded for the first time in Brazil, in the states of Amazonas and Pará. U. similis was known only from its type locality, in Iquitos, Province of Loreto, Peru, and now its records is extended to Colombia, in the department of Amazonas, and Brazil, in the state of Amazonas. Most likely, the wider distribution of U. ferreirai and U. amacayaca is associated with longer wings, which allows for a larger dispersion capacity. However, Uchuca halticos Montealegre-Z and Morris, 2003 is also a long-winged species and possibly has a similar capacity of dispersion, but till the moment, this species is currently known only to Jaguar (type locality) and Misahualli, Province of Napo, Ecuador.
The species Uchuca grisea Giglio-Tos, 1898 , U. pallida and U. peruviana are known only from their type localities. Some authors have recorded non-identified species from some localities in South America. However, there is the possibility that some of these species have already been described. The records were made by Nickle & Castner (1995), that found two species of Uchuca in three sites in Loreto Province , Peru (40–160 km NW Iquitos ); Braun (2007) that recorded five species to Parque Nacional Podocarpus, Province of Zamora-Chinchipe , Ecuador; and Naskrecki (2011) that recorded an other non-identified species to Kwamalasamutu region in Suriname .
