Notes: Setoseptoria bambusae was isolated from a dead stem of Bambusa sp. in Baiyun Mountain, China ( Senanayake et al. 2023). The specimens and living cultures are deposited in herbaria of Zhongkai University of Agriculture and Engineering, China ( MHZU), and Zhongkai University of Agriculture and Engineering Culture Collection, China ( ZHKUCC), with codes MHZU 22-0133 and ZHKUCC 22-0228, respectively. However, the name “ Setoseptoria bambusae ” has been used for a taxon in the genus under the code GZCC 17-0044 ( Yang et al. 2023). A morphological comparison has revealed that these two collections are distinct species ( Senanayake et al. 2023, Yang et al. 2023). Our phylogenetic analysis also demonstrates that they cluster separately ( FIGURE 1 View FIGURE 1 ). Therefore, we propose to maintain the name “ Setoseptoria bambusae ” for the earlier published collection GZCC 17-0044 ( Yang et al. 2023), while assigning a new name “ Setoseptoria baiyunensis ” to the subsequent collection MHZU 22-0133 ( Senanayake et al. 2023) according to the Article 53.1 in Shenzhen Code ( Turland et al. 2018).
