Material examined. NIBRIV0000325942, Beomseom Island , 27 Aug. 2009 by SCUBA diving .

Substratum. Unknown.

Description. Autozooids ( Fig. 2A View Fig ) encrusting, distinct. Large avicularia distinct, paired; rostrum and mandible asymmetrical, crossbar incomplete ( Fig. 2B View Fig ). Rostrum compressed, directing distally, a few trigonal pyramid projections on surface. Orifice extensive, occupying most part of frontal surface, but proximally concealed by two lateral spines. Two lateral spines extensively branched, horizontal plane, nearly finely subdivided, each other fu sion, some of branches standing up above of shield. Two distal spines massive, short, stout, each spine branching to 24, standing up vertically. Ovicell ( Fig. 2C View Fig ) layered at top, looked wearing helmet, immersed, raised and globular. Basal side with 56 elongate pores sunken between zooids; basal surface ( Fig. 2D View Fig ) of each zooid with several pores like a rash.

Remark. Hiantopora intermedia ( Kirkpatrick, 1890) is most similar to Hiantopora aequicoruna Tilbrook, 2006 . However, this species differs from H. aequicoruna having an avicularium straight rostrum with serrated edge and hooked tip.

Distribution. Korea, Japan, Torres Strait, Burma.
