Diagnosis:—Ventral scales with 1-2 appendages, involucre entire, spores brown or red-brown. A brief English description was also given in Long (2005: 257).
Type:— Asterella wallichiana (Lehm. et Lindenb.) Pandé, K.P.Srivast. et Sultan Khan ex Grolle, Khumbu Himal : 262, 1966 ( Grolle 1966). Basionym:— Fimbraria wallichiana Lehm. et Lindenb. , Nov. Stirp. Pug. 4: 4, 1832 ( Lehmann 1832), “ Fimbriaria ”.
