A hybrid genus between Athyrium Roth (1800: 31 , 58–59) and Pseudathyrium Newman (1851: 370–371) .
Etymology:—A combination of Greek “ a ”, without (from Athyrium ), and “ pseudathyrium ”.
This nothogenus contains one nothospecies.
