Type Locality: "Western prairies." Restricted by A. H. Howell (1938:163) to Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico.

Vernacular Names: Ring-tailed Ground Squirrel.

Subspecies: :

Subspecies Spermophilus annulatus subsp. goldmani Merriam 1902

Distribution: Nayarit to N Guerrero ( Mexico).

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: Subgenus Notocitellus (A. H. Howell, 1938:162) or Otospermophilus ( Hall, 1981:403). See adocetes, above. Reviewed by Best (1995 h, Mammalian Species No. 508).
