Prodorsal shield 45 (44–46) long, 71 (69–72) wide; subtriangular and with lateral lobes; frontal lobe acuminate; median and admedian lines connected at basal 1/3, admedian and submedian lines connected at basal 2/3, with granules on lines. Scapular tubercles on rear margin, 31 (30–32) apart, scapular setae (sc) 15 (14–17) projecting posterior. Coxal area with granules; anterolateral setae on coxisternum (1b) 11 (10–11), proximal setae on coxisternum (1a) 19 (18–22), proximal setae on coxisternum (2a) 32 (30–34). Prosternal apodeme present. Legs with usual series of setae. Legs 34 (32–36), femur 8 (8–9), basiventral femoral setae (bv) 12 (10–13); genu 6 (5–6), antaxial genual setae (l'') 20 (19–22); tibia 10 (8–10), paraxial tibial setae (l') 5 (5–6), setae located 1/4 from dorsal base; tarsus 6 (5–6); tarsal empodium simple, 4rayed, tarsal solenidion rodlike. Legs 29 (27–31), femur 7 (7–8), basiventral femoral setae (bv) 13 (12–13); genu 5 (4–5), antaxial genual setae (l'') 8 (8–9); tibia 7 (6–7); tarsus 6 (5–6); tarsal empodium simple, 4 rayed, tarsal solenidion rodlike. Opisthosoma: dorsal opisthosoma with 33 (30–35) annuli, with elliptical granules, ventrally with 66 (63–68) microtuberculate annuli. Setae c2 35 (32–37) on ventral annulus 13 (13–14); setae d 42 (40–46) on ventral annulus 28 (27–29); setae e 26 (24–27) on ventral annulus 48 (47–48), setae f 31 (29–34) on 6th ventral annulus from rear. Setae h1 3 (3–4). Female genitalia 15 (14–15) long, 22 (21–23) wide, coverflap with 12 longitudinal ridges, proximal setae on coxisternum (3a) 25 (24–27).
MALE: (n = 1) 165 long, 55 wide; genitalia 5, 20 wide, proximal setae on coxisternum III (3a) 22.
Types
Holotype, female, China : Shaanxi Province, Ningshan County, 33°18.43’N, 108°18.33’E. September 7, 2004, from Populus sp. ( Salicaceae ), coll. Xue, XiaoFeng & Song, ZiWei. Paratypes, 7 females and 1 male, with the same data as holotype.
Relation to host
Mites are vagrant on leaf surface, causing no apparent damage.
Remarks
This species is similar to Tetra suspensae Xue & Hong, 2005 , but can be differentiated by prodorsal shield with lateral lobe (absent in T. suspensae ), frontal lobe acuminate (frontal lobe broad in T. suspensae ) and dorsal annuli with elliptical microtubercles (dorsal annuli with spiny microtubercles in T. suspensae ).
