Type:— CHINA. Guangxi: Fengshan Xian, Paoli Xiang, Yueli Cun , Yangzidong , in shady cave of limestone, elev. ca. 510 m, 12 July 1990, Ding Fang & Xiaming Zhong 30550 (holotype GXMI) .

Voucher specimens examined:— VIETNAM. Hagiang Prov. : Quang Ba District, Bat Dai Son Nature Reserve, upper right of cave entrance, December 2018, Ngan T. Lu et al. 2266 ( VNMN!) .

Distribution and habitat:— China (Guangxi), Vietnam (Hagiang); limestone walls, entrance of karst caves.

Notes:— Polystichum articulatipilosum is the only species in the genus with articulate hairs. This species has been found in three caves in southern China and northern Vietnam so far.
