Genus Diabrotica Chevrolat View in CoL in Dejean 1836
Diabrotica Chevrolat View in CoL in Dejean 1836: 380 (type species Crioceris fucata Fabricius, 1787 , by subsequent designation of Barber 1947a).
Remarks
This is a very large genus, with nearly 400 described species from the New World and includes some of the most agriculturally damaging pests on Earth. Species from North and Central America have recently been treated by Derunkov et al. (2020). However, although there are studies of local faunas and of certain species groups, there is no modern, comprehensive treatment for the species from South America. See Fig. 67 View Figs 64–72 for a habitus illustration.
