Subgenus Neogalerucella Chûjô, 1962 View in CoL
Neogalerucella Chûjô, 1962: 38 View in CoL
(type species Chrysomela tenella Linnaeus, 1761 , by original designation).
Remarks
See Manguin et al. (1993) for a key to the species occurring in the New World . The subgenus Galerucella is represented in Canada and the United States by a single species, G. nymphaeae (Linnaeus, 1758) , which also occurs in the Palearctic Region. The subgenus Neogalerucella includes two species that are native to Canada and the northern United States. It also includes two Palearctic species that have intentionally been introduced to Canada and the United States for biological control of the invasive plant Lythrum salicaria L. ( Lythraceae ). See Figs 25 View Figs 19–27 and 153 View Figs 153–157. 153 for a habitus illustration and morphological details.
