Genus Lilophaea Bechyné, 1958
Lilophaea Bechyné, 1958: 601 (type species Luperodes brasiliensis Jacoby, 1888 , by original designation).
Remarks
Only 19 species are currently placed in this genus ( Groll & Moura 2016). However, they hardly differ from many of those currently placed in other genera of Monoleptites reported to occur in the New World , especially from species in Luperodes , Metrioidea Fairmaire, 1882 , and Monolepta Chevrolat, 1836 . The generic placements seem to be almost random, except that all species currently in Lilophaea are from South America. Upon naming the genus, Bechyné (1958) probably intended that many other New World species should eventually be transferred to Lilophaea , including some from north of South America. See Fig. 143 View Figs 136–143 for a habitus illustration.
