Genus Metrioidea Fairmaire, 1882 View in CoL

Metrioidea Fairmaire, 1882: 489 View in CoL (type species Metrioidea signatipennis Fairmaire, 1882 , by monotypy).

Remarks

Wilcox (1973) listed 14 New World species for this genus, distributed from the United States through Peru. However, similar to the situation with Luperodes , future taxonomic revision may eventually show that true Metrioidea does not occur in the New World . The genus was originally named from Fiji. The New World species currently included in the genus are hardly distinguishable from those currently in Lilophaea , Luperodes , and Monolepta . See Fig. 139 View Figs 136–143 for a habitus illustration of one of the New World species currently placed in Metrioidea .
