Type Locality: Unknown; possibly from pampas of Buenos Aires, Argentina; see Cabrera (1961).

Vernacular Names: Argentine Plains Viscacha.

Distribution: N, C, and E Argentina, S and W Paraguay, SE Bolivia.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: Reviewed by Jackson et al. (1996). Karyptype has 2n=56 and FN=110 ( George and Weir, 1974).
