Types. Holotype: male from Reserva Florestal Adolpho Ducke, Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil [3.066667ºS, 59.866667ºW], 18.VII.1987, A.A. Lise (MCN 18279). Paratype: one male from Reserva Biológica de Campina, Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil [2.489444ºS, 60.021667ºW], 12.IX.1979, L.P. Albuquerque (INPA 3131).
Etymology. The specific name, to be treated as a Latin adjective, refers to the similarity between the embolus/ tegulum of the male palp of this species and the head/wing of a resting Pterodactylus (pterosaur).
Diagnosis. Males of S. pterodactyla are recognized by the combination of an embolus at a square angle with tegulum and the finger-like paraembolic projection ( Fig. 175 View FIGURES 174 – 179. S ).
Description. Male (holotype). Total length: 3.62. Carapace orange, 1.69 long, 1.29 wide, 1.05 high ( Fig. 174 View FIGURES 174 – 179. S ). Ocular quadrangle 1.05 long. Anterior eye row 1.08 wide and posterior 1.00 wide. Palp yellow ( Figs 175‒176 View FIGURES 174 – 179. S ); RvTA and ITA poorly developed; embolus triangular, folded in square angle with tegulum, paraembolic projection finger-like, DEA triangular, at the retrolateral side. Legs 1432, orange, only I and IV with dark longitudinal stripes.
Length of femur: I 1.67, II 0.89, III 1.03, IV 1.34; patella + tibia: I 2.26, II 1.25, III 1.12, IV 1.56; metatarsus + tarsus: I 1.48, II 0.98, III 1.10, IV 1.59. Spination on ventral tibia I: 2-2-2-0-2. Abdomen cream-colored, anteriorly and posteriorly with dorsal dark areas ( Fig. 174 View FIGURES 174 – 179. S ); ventrally cream-colored with a brown spot close to the spinnerets. Female: unknown.
