Type:— ECUADOR. Tungurahua: near laguna at the western side of Cerro Hermoso, 1°13′51″ S, 78°18′04″ W, 3870 m, 3 Dec 2010, P. Sklenář 13100 (holotype: PRC 405860!, isotypes: MO, QCA 215788 not seen). Iconography: Calvo et al. (2016: 176).
Distribution and Habitat ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 ): — Senecio alatopetiolatus is endemic to Ecuador, and only known from the type locality, in a humid shrubby páramo, at an elevation of 3870 m.
